Dempo retained their Senior Division League title won just a year earlier after edging out Sesa Goa on goal difference. They had to win their concluding clash against Vasco to do so but only managed a 1-1 draw. Fortunately, Salgaocar rallied from two goals down to hold Sesa in another game, allowing Dempo to squeak through. Dempo conceded just three goals all through the campaign.
