Dempo lost three matches in the first leg but remained unbeaten in the second to win the championship. Dempo were without their mainstays, defender Nicholas Pereira and prolific scorer Francis D’Souza, as both were away for the Asian Games in Bangkok. However, defender Rosario Rodrigues literally led from the front and made light of their absence.
