K Williams
Forward (1971-1978)
Even before he embraced Dempo, Williams was one of the more feared strikers in Indian football. He terrorized defences earlier with the Corps of Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, Secunderabad, scoring several memorable match winners including the one in the 1967 Nehru Memorial final against Vasco. Williams will be best remembered as the man who kept his cool to convert a late penalty to enable Dempo down Tatas 1-0 in the 1975 Rovers Cup final. It made him an immortal hero for Dempo fans and when he retired and left for home, a young Shrinivas Dempo personally pinned a commemorative medal onto his shirt – the picture was splashed on the front pages of local newspapers.
