Story So Far:
Two Points off the top & placed Second in the Selvel Goa Professional League standings, the Eagles will have all to play for in their final game of the League!
Currently sitting with 18 Points, the boys have all but guaranteed a minimum fourth-place finish in the league this season but may still have an outside chance for the crown, if favourable results elsewhere were to boost their chances!
A Loss/Draw for Sporting Clude De Goa against Guardian Angles Sports Club and a Loss for Salgaocar FC against SESA FA or Calangute Association would put the Eagles back in contention for the crown with a last game victory to Velsao Sports Club.
With Kritikesh Gadekar & Danstan Fernandes not able to start the game due to a suspension & Gaurav Vaugankar out due to injury, Samir Naik will need to look towards his bench to find the right combination in the middle of the park to make sure Uttam Rai & Pedro Gonsalves have the right pass delivered to them, to unlock Velsao Sports Club.
Opposition:
A massive 10 point gap between the two teams, Velsao Sports Club find itself in all sorts of troubles as the Goa Professional League comes to a halt.
With 2 Wins, 2 Losses & 6 Defeats this season, the outfit will know that all is not lost and just like the Eagles, they could very well pull off a great escape on the last day of the campaign if favorable results were to help them on their way.
With Velsao having the worst defense in the league this season, conceding 19 times in 10 games, the Eagles will hope their attack of 21 goals and 10 different goal scorers, will do them the job once again!
Fit and available from the start, Samir Naik will have Uttam Rai, Pedro Gonsalves, Beevan D’Mello, Desmon Pereira & Suraj Hadknonkar available from the kickoff at Duler Stadium – Mapusa.
Player To Watch:
Uttam Rai: A Hat-trick in the last outing against Sporting Clube De Goa means that Uttam now has 5 goals in 6 games!
The club’s top scorer this season, Uttam has been in fine goalscoring form, since returning back from a thigh injury that saw him miss out on 4 games this season. With the title having the possibility of being decided on goal difference, Samir Naik will need his top marksman to be fit and firing from the start!
Uttam currently sits joint second in the Selvel Goa Professional League standings for most goals scored with 5 this season, Only Stephen Satarkar & Beneston Piecton Barretto have scored more goals this season with 6 each.
