Eagles hoping to end losing run

Apr 05: Dempo SC will be hoping to end their worst ever performance of four successive defeats with a win when they host minnows Pailan Arrows on Saturday evening.

However, Armando Colaco will not have the luxury of fielding his best players due to injuries; yet he would like to make use of the best resources available with him. Ryuji Seuoka is ruled out for a hamstring injury while defender Debabrata Roy has been nursing an ankle pain.

Armando’s trusted lieutenants in defence; Mahesh Gawli and Samir Naik are out of the season due to various injuries. However, the senior duo is always present in the dressing room to comfort the youngsters and motivate them. The coach is left with no other choice but to select the best among the remaining defenders. It is likely that Armando may continue with the same defence as he did in the last match against Mohun Bagan.

Midfield is likely to be marshalled by the very experienced Climax Lawrence, while Anthony Pereira. Peter Carvalho, Clifford Miranda and Nicolau Borges may return to the starting line-up.

Forwards Jonny Menyongar and current season’s highest Indian goal scorer Joaquim Abranches are set to start, while Laxmikant Kattimani is expected to keep his place in goal.

Pailan Arrows too are going through turmoil after their coach Arthur Papas declined to continue with them next season citing poor performances. They have not won a single match in their last 10 outings and are dangerously hanging above the relegation zone.

This match will be shown live on Ten Action and will begin at 06:30 pm
