18 year old Derryl Endro has been picked by the national team scouts for a week long training camp to be held at AIFF training centre Fatorda, Margao. Derryl joins the impressive list of young Dempo players playing in the ongoing Airtel Goa Pro League who have been called for U-19 national team camp.
Earlier, Dempo’s Sahil Tavora was called up for the U-19 camp and has been training with the team since two weeks. The duo will train with the national squad from 20th– 27th November and will have to go through the selection process after the camp resumes. Confirming the call-up, Tony Cabral of the AIFF elite academy in Goa said “Yes, the boys have been called for the camp where they will be kept under observation. At the end of the camp, the boys will go back to their respective clubs. But, they will have to report again if required by the National Coach”.
Dempo Sports Club has been laying great emphasis to improve the quality of its youth players at every level so as to develop technically competent players for their senior squad. The club relies on the expertise of their Head Coach Arthur Papas who has been able to spot the above talents for the national teams “As a club we are very enthused & excited about the development and progression of both Sahil Tavora and Derryl Endro culminating in their recent U19 national team call ups. It is in line with the Chairman’s vision to place a higher emphasis on identifying & developing future Indian talent and it bodes well for the long term success and health of Dempo SC.””.
With an evolving youth system in place, Dempo SC is sure to benefit with young players in the longer run.
