After the success of the Bajaj Allianz Junior football camp over the last three years, the organizers are set to introduce the Asian leg for the first time.
Seven teenagers selected from across India will participate in an international football camp with FC Bayern Munich in Thailand. The selection process will target 5000 kids across 140 schools and football clubs all over the country.
The selection process was kicked off in Goa on Wednesday by Dr Rufino Monteiro, Chairman of GFDC, Mr Kennedy D’Silva, Mr Elvis Gomes and Mr Brahmanand Shankwalkar.
Quan Gomes, winner of the first edition of Goa leg was felicitated along with Avheristo Fernandes who has won the last year’s edition. Quan Gomes thanked the organisers for developing him as a footballer which earned him a call for the Dempo U-20 team. Quan, who plays attacking midfielder, has scored one goal in the recently concluded I-League U-20 for Dempo Sports Club.
The Asia junior football camp is to be held in Thailand from June 28 to 30 and gives teenagers from across the world aged between 14-16, the opportunity to meet and train with the legendary FC Bayern Munich coaches and players. As per the organisers, those born between Sept 30,1996 and April 30, 1999 are eligible to register in India.
The activity will target around 1000 students across 25 top schools and 15 football clubs and academies in Goa. Eminent former footballers such as Brahmanand will be part of the jury during the selection process.
In addition to Goa, Bajaj Allianz will be conducting the selection process for Asia junior football camp in Jalandhar, Dehradun, Siliguri, Durgapur, Bangalore and Chennai.
