Sep 28: DempoSC will look forward to change in fortunes when they meet a resurgent Mumbai FC side on Sunday in the round II of Airtel I-League.
After having suffered an initial heartbreak, Dempo coach Arthur Papas who rued on the missed opportunities in the first match against Lajong will try to make the most from the 90 minutes against Mumbai FC. “The team has been working hard. Our next game cant come soon enough after the disappointment in the first round” said Papas.
Dempo squad has been training hard under Papas for more than a week now and the head coach is hopeful on putting the pressure on the opponents against whom they have an impeccable track record “ We have been training hard this week to improve in the areas in which we felt were not of high enough level against Lajong. Although we anticipate a physically tough match against Mumbai FC, we will look for an immediate response.”
Mumbai FC coach Khalid Jamil is likely to be left short of two of their foreigners while Arhtur Papas will have a fully fit squad at his disposal.
Jeje and Gabriel have recovered from their niggling injuries and had also made an immediate impact in the last game against Lajong. Meanwhile, all the four foreigners are expected to start tomorrow, nippy midfielder and 18 year old new signing Sahil Tavora could also be a pesky presence for the opponents along with the likes of Clifford Miranda, Jewel Raja, Godwin Franco and Peter Carvalho.
It will be an interesting contest to see how the young Dempo squad, who has looked a much more solid outfit in the Goa League, manages to upset Mumbai FC.
